Our firm in Australia, Cobber Enterprises, developed the Cobber in the early 1990s based upon Australian Outback evaporative cooling systems such as the Hessian Water Bag and the Coolgardie Safe. Since then, we have been imitated many times but never successfully copied.

1. Toxicity: One large difference that separates the Cobber from some other competitors is the toxicity factor. The Cobber is totally non-toxic and has been MSDS tested. Many of the imitators use a potassium based co-polymer acrylate crystal. Potassium is harder to excrete by the liver than the crystal we use. The crystals and workmanship are significantly cheaper in these products.

    

2. Quality: The Cobber is the standard by which all products in this category measure themselves. The Cobber is all hand made, and double stitched with an invisible seam, from the finest high count poly/cotton blend that keeps the crystals from leaching through the material and onto the skin. This duality allows for a comfortable, cooling effect. Other products are 100% cotton, which leaches onto the skin and feels greasy to the touch.
   
   The Cobber will also last for 2-3 days at a time, minimum, while other products that are cheaper, may last only for a few hours. This is, once again, due to the quality, and workmanship that goes into the Cobber. Many of the cheaper imitations also have issues with colors that leach onto their clothing, ruining shirts, etc. This is a non issue with the Cobber, due to its quality and durability.

    

3. Approval and Recommendation: The Cobber is the only body cooling neck wrap that has been approved for use for the Joint Task Force in the U.K. The British Military has made it a part of their uniform, and the US Army and Canadian militaries are ordering for their soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan as well. Other products were tested, and subsequently rejected due to quality and toxicity issues.
   In addition, the Cobber has been featured by over 30 national and international publications, including magazines and newspapers, as well as National Television.
   In summary, the Cobber is a top quality product, like any other top quality products that compete in a marketplace. Many of the other products are cheap gimmicks that do not work and are not worth the attention of consumers. Consumers that are purchasing a product that will keep them cool are doing so under the assumption that the product will provide them relief under all conditions, over a long period of time.
